Salary:                         £13.85/hour

Hours:                         12-18 hours per week

Working pattern:       Monday, Wednesday and Friday

Start date:                  Immediate

Job Background:

“Meals and a Chat” is a services provided by Nourish Hub in partnership with the Council’s Adult Social Care department. This service goes beyond the traditional “Meals on Wheels” service by offering a greater variety of meal options and social interaction through wellbeing checks during delivery.

We cater to a diverse range of dietary requirements and preferences, including Asian, Afro-Caribbean, Halal, and Classic British cuisines. Meals are delivered by electric cargo bike three days a week, supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability.

We are seeking a compassionate individual to deliver the meals to residents throughout the borough.

Delivery days are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, including bank holidays. Minimum 12 hours a week with regular holiday cover opportunities.

This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver our Meals and Chat service to elderly and vulnerable residents of Hammersmith and Fulham, using our Electric-Cargo bike.
  • Provide a friendly face and a wellbeing check to our service users.
  • Maintain communications with the Hammersmith and Fulham Council social care team to ensure residents receive the best possible service.

Ideal Candidate:

Essential

  • Experience of engaging with a diverse community audience, remaining professional and approachable.
  • Awareness and understanding of social issues, particularly those affecting elderly and vulnerable residents.
  • Confidence to ride an electric cargo bike across the borough.
  • Excellent communicator and team player.

About Nourish Hub

In 2017 the Mayor of London asked for bids from across the local authorities in London to deliver projects under the Good Growth umbrella. The London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham was selected to deliver the Nourish Hub on the Edward Woods Estate. Nourish Hub opened in October 2021 and offers opportunities for all to nourish the mind, body and soul. Using rescued food as a medium to empower, people are offered meals on a “donate as you dine” basis and provision of activities are develop skills and social cohesion.

UKHarvest are a national food rescue and education charity and who coordinate activities within the Hub; learning and training opportunities and providing engagement and outreach services for the local community. We deliver high quality community development, improve social cohesion and facilitate social action around nutrition and the environment.
