Volunteer Coordinator (Part-Time, Nourish Hub – London W11)

Position Overview We are seeking a highly organised and approachable individual to join our team as Volunteer Coordinator. This role is central to the success of the Nourish Hub, helping to recruit, manage, and support volunteers so they have a positive and rewarding experience.

You will lead on implementing and promoting our volunteer strategy, support the day-to-day delivery of programmes at the Hub, and maximise the potential of our new volunteer Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.

Main Objectives

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you will:

  • Recruit, manage, and support volunteers to meet the needs of the Nourish Hub.
  • Provide guidance, training, and supervision in a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Ensure all volunteers have a positive, safe, and rewarding experience.
  • Administer and maintain our volunteer CRM system to strengthen relationships, track impact, and improve engagement.
  • Deliver the volunteer strategy in line with the Hub’s wider operational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure professional best practice and legal compliance in all volunteer-related activity.
  • Work closely with the Hub Manager and programme leads to align volunteer support with community needs.
  • Monitor and evaluate volunteer sessions to ensure high levels of satisfaction and learning.
  • Build partnerships with local organisations, community groups, and businesses to expand opportunities.
  • Strengthen relationships with schools and colleges to support student placements.
  • Communicate effectively with volunteers about opportunities, events, and training.
  • Support the delivery of community events, workshops, and shared meals as needed.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of the volunteer strategy and operational plan.

Other Responsibilities

  • Stay up to date with best practice and trends in volunteering and community engagement.
  • Undertake project delivery and programme support as required.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and encouragement for volunteers across all Hub activities.
  • Uphold the Nourish Hub’s values and commitment to diversity, inclusion, and safety.
  • Participate actively in regular team meetings and cross-organisational projects.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) across digital and in-person settings.
  • Computer literate, with experience using CRMs and standard office software.
  • Proven experience in leading projects, managing teams, or community engagement.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and support volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Confident in presenting, facilitating, or leading groups.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of volunteering best practice and relevant legal frameworks.
  • Understanding of food insecurity, food waste reduction, or community food programmes.
  • Experience working in hospitality, education, or community-focused environments.
  • Full, clean driving licence.

Additional Information

  • Part-time role (2.5 days per week).
  • Some evening or weekend work may occasionally be required.
  • A DBS check will be required and arranged upon appointment.
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities will be provided.
