Building Community Through Food and Warm Spaces at Nourish Hub

At Nourish Hub, we believe that food is more than just something we eat—it’s a way to bring people together, create meaningful connections, and build stronger communities. That’s why, with the support of Hammersmith and Fulham Council’s Warm Welcome Grant, we’ve been piloting exciting new initiatives to make our space even more welcoming and inclusive for local residents.

In February, we launched two new projects designed to foster connection, reduce loneliness, and provide opportunities for learning and fun: ‘Social Boardgames Club’ and ‘Brunch and Learn’. Both initiatives have been met with enthusiasm, proving just how powerful food and social experiences can be in bringing people together.

Social Boardgames Club

On Mondays from 1-3pm, our social boardgames group comes together to play games, have lunch and spark conversations. Sometimes, the simplest activities can have the biggest impact, and we have witnessed how a simple game of Jenga can bring laughter and joy into our space. We hope that this initiative continues to provide an easy and enjoyable way for people to socialize.

“The Nourish Hub is such a welcoming space; you can tell that building community is a key focus here. Having the boardgames is a lovely touch to encourage people to connect and utilise the space after they’ve finished having lunch.”

Brunch and Learn

Brunch and Learn is all about bringing people together to share a delicious meal while exploring new skills and hobbies. Each session features a different activity—From Chair Yoga sessions to participating in Creative Writing workshops. Brunch and Learn is about more than just acquiring new skills – it’s about fostering a sense of belonging for groups of older adults who may feel isolated and giving participants a chance to try new hobbies in a friendly environment.

“Thank you for taking your time with me when I was nervous about socialising. Each week I interact more and meet new people – this club builds my confidence to get out the house.”
