Cook for Good

If you’re looking for a new and exciting experience for your next corporate day that also supports the community and the environment, then Cook for Good is for you!

Your organisation will become part of the growing number of environmentally and socially conscious corporations supporting our community to ensure that delicious healthy food is available to everyone. We offer team-building activities in which you and your team can work alongside our in-house chefs and nutritionists in our community kitchen; preparing and creating a delicious bespoke menu, while supporting your community.

We recently welcomed Luchito whose team cooked, laughed and ate with us, sharing that ‘We just wanted to say thank you so much for the lovely volunteering experience, we would love to come and do another session with you guys.’

TEAM BUILDING

Cooking together is a fantastic way of getting to know and strengthen the bond between colleagues while preparing meals to feed the most vulnerable people in our community. This is an unforgettable corporate team building experience, with an immediate and tangible social impact that will be the topic of conversation for a long time. Most find it hard to believe that:

  • Food waste in the UK is estimated to cost £17 billion each year equal to 10 million tons of food
  • 8.4 million UK families are struggling to put food on the table, the equivalent of the whole population of London. As many as half of these families regularly go a whole day without food.
  • 10% of children in the UK are reported by UNICEF to be living in households affected by severe food insecurity (6,657,300).

Engagement

Corporate engagement is an integral part of our organisation. It allows us to educate and engage businesses and bring them closer to the needs of local vulnerable communities, in need of good food. We bring both business and community together. The work we do makes a huge difference to the community organisations we support. These corporate engagement initiatives not only help to ensure that we can continue to service our existing charities but expand our reach to other communities in need.

Activity

Participants will be led by our Chef in our training kitchen as they chop, slice, dice, stir and whisk their way through this hands-on experience preparing ingredients, dishes or desserts for delivery by the UKHarvest team to those in need. Participants across 4 hours will learn about food waste, food rescue and pick up some handy tips and tricks from our chef. Participants will have the opportunity to sample some of the food they have produced and leave with an apron, memories of a great time in the company of colleagues and a feeling of satisfaction knowing they have helped those in need in their local community.
