Job Title: Floor Supervisor

Salary: £13.85-15.85 per hour dependent on experience

Hours: Monday-Friday, 11:30-15:30 (4 hours per day)

Reports to: Deputy Hub Manager

 

Job Background:

We are seeking a dynamic and community-oriented individual to join our team as a Floor Supervisor at our Community Food Hub. This role blends security, hospitality and supervision, to create a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations of our Community Lunch, de-escalating any potential conflicts in a compassionate and professional manner, supervising volunteers and ensuring a positive experience for guests.  

 

Key Responsibilities:

Safety & Conflict Resolution

  • Monitor the community food hub space during Community Lunch (12:00-15:30) to maintain a safe and secure environment.
  • Act as a calming presence, using de-escalation techniques to manage any disruptive behaviour as they arise.
  • Work closely with the management team to address any safeguarding concerns and continuously improve the visitor experience.

Community Engagement & Hospitality

  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors.
  • Address any inquiries from the public and signpost them to relevant services and information.
  • Ensure that the dining area is maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
  • Provide a friendly, inclusive environment for a diverse community.

Volunteer Supervision

  • Support  up to two volunteers who are responsible for taking orders.
  • Assist with training volunteers on customer service, safety protocols, and hub procedures.

 

Ideal Candidate:

Essential

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, community work, or a related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with people from diverse backgrounds and with various needs.
  • Experience in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques.
  • A compassionate and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals facing difficulties.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic IT skills for logging reports and communicating with team members.

Desirable

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Previous work in a community, social care, or charitable setting.
  • Training in mental health first aid or trauma-informed care.
  • First aid and safeguarding training (or willingness to complete training upon hiring).

 

Additional Information

  • This role may require working occasional evenings.
  • A DBS check is required and will be completed upon appointment.
  • Training opportunities will be provided to support professional development.
  • Right to work in the UK required.
