Winter Round-up 2024

As the year draws to a close, December has been a wonderfully busy and joyful month at Nourish Hub, filled with festive celebrations and the warmth of our community coming together. Here’s a look at the highlights!

Volunteers End of Year Celebration

We believe in celebrating the incredible people who make Nourish Hub what it is. This year we wanted to show our appreciation for our amazing volunteers! The celebration brought everyone together to reflect on the highlights of 2024, share laughs, and say a heartfelt thank you for their dedication, support, and hard work. It was a wonderful way to close out the year.

Chop and Chat – Mince Pies

There was a real festive buzz in the air at our morning Chop and Chat session where participants made their own twist on a traditional mince pie. Using their homemade pastry and mincemeat filling, they added exciting, ‘non-traditional’ ingredients like goji berries, apples, cranberries, crystallised ginger, cardamom, and nuts. The result? A beautiful variety of mince pies that were as creative as they were delicious!

Chop and Chat – Vegetarian Christmas Dinner

Our Vegetarian Christmas Dinner Chop and Chat was another standout event, attracting a fabulous group of attendees eager to cook, learn, and share. Together, we prepared and enjoyed festive dishes like Nut Roast, Crispy Roast Potatoes, Cheesy Sprouts, Preserved Lemon Asparagus, and Stuffed Cabbages. It was an inspiring reminder of how nourishing food can bring people together

Thank you to everyone who joined us this December—we couldn’t have done it without you! Here’s to a fantastic 2025 filled with even more connection, creativity, and community spirit.

“The team were amazing. We walked into a beautiful space that had been decorated with care and attention. We were given a very warm welcome and given full information about the menu and we had an absolutely wonderful time.”
Making cooking and good food accessible means creating opportunities for everyone to take part, learn new skills, and enjoy the confidence that comes from preparing food independently. It also means ensuring people can access nutritious meals in ways that meet their individual needs. Food and community spaces should be inclusive, supportive, and designed so everyone can participate and thrive.
Last week, Nourish Hub celebrated its 4th birthday - a moment to pause, reflect, and celebrate everything that has been built alongside our community. Bringing together residents, volunteers, partners and supporters, the morning was a joyful reminder that while food brings people through our doors, it is connection, care and community that define what the Hub truly is. Read on to find out who attended, what we all ate and why it was such a magical celebration with friends and colleagues.
