Fun with Food Clubs – Summer 2025

This summer, the Nourish Hub team welcomed 108 children aged 8-12yo into the Training Kitchen to stir, whisk, bake and roast their way through the summer holidays.

We were thrilled to be joined by Chef Kate who supported our ‘Fun with Food’ sessions this summer. Our sessions ranged from Eatwell Guide and healthy eating to considering areas of cooking and eating, such as looking at sensory aspects of food. The ‘Fun with Food’ team also took part in some food growing activities with PotGang and considered ways that they might be able to reduce food waste with our Food Waste Champions.

The children were inspired by Nourish Hub’s community cafe menu to design the menu of their own summer picnic, taking into consideration the nutritional value of the meals on offer, and the cost involved in creating the recipes.

After the classroom learning and introduction to Nourish Hub, each child cooked alongside our chefs and volunteers and made two recipes of the day. Each child took home the food they made to share with friends, siblings and family members.

We are so proud of how much the children achieved, from cooking and sharing food to making new connections and building confidence in the kitchen. We wouldn’t have been able to achieve as much without LMP Action’s help who generously funded our summer ‘Fun with Food’ sessions.
